Get to Know Us

In mid-2014, a few close friends and Percy L. Julian High School Alumni felt compelled to embark on a day of support and service for the homeless. What began as a group of friends driven by the desire to give back to their community quickly transformed into the thriving organization ICO, Inc. is today.
We were honored to be able to serve our communities, and new members poured in as word spread about the impact we were having. As the team of volunteers grew, we realized the time had come to give our group an “official” name, so we called ourselves “Keeping the Homeless Warm.”
Eventually, we had as many as thirty volunteers showing up at 6:30AM to help serve those in need. In 2020, we formed a board and became a 501(c)(3) organization. Along with that, and in an effort to more-fully capture all the organization was doing to be a positive force in the community, we changed our name to Impact in the Community Organization Inc., NFP (ICO, Inc.).
ICO, Inc. brings hope and help to those who need it. We do this in several ways:

-
Through donations of clothing and food
-
Helping offset the graduation fees of Elementary and Kindergarten aged children in the Chicago Public School System
-
Seeing an increase in migrant families in Chicago over the past several years (some of whom have come with nothing but the clothes on their backs), we have made it our mission to clothe and feed them as needed. We are honored to be able to do so.
